Venice, FL – October 20, 2022 – Family Promise of South Sarasota County (FPSSC) is elated to have received a very charitable $150,000 matching grant from Gulf Coast Community Foundation. Gulf Coast has been a strong supporter of FPSSC since 2014 when FPSSC’s Board of Trustees was initially formed. All grant funds will be used to match individual donations made in the upcoming months for the Pathways Home Project in Venice for families at risk of or experiencing homelessness. Pathways Home Project is a one to two year transitional housing opportunity for families graduating from FPSSC’s Bridge Housing shelter program.
Jennifer Fagenbaum, Executive Director of Family Promise of South Sarasota County stated, “As we wrap up the first year of owning the 10-unit Parkside Cottages under the Pathways Home Project, we are excited for the opportunities these affordable rentals have provided for many families already, as well as the hundreds of families in the upcoming years. Families’ immediate and critical needs are being met while they are empowered to learn financial stability and self-sufficiency through monthly case management. This generous matching opportunity of $150,000 through Gulf Coast Community Foundation for a possible total of $300,000 is going to help us to pay off the loan for the first 10 houses so that we can create more affordable housing in south Sarasota County. We need our working families to remain in Sarasota County, but that will be impossible if they cannot afford to live here. Partnering with Gulf Coast and our incredible donors in this mission is vital to its success.”
