United Way Suncoast wants to remind community members the IRS sent letters on Oct. 13 to more than 9 million potentially eligible families who did not claim stimulus payments, Earned Income Tax Credits, Child Tax Credit and other benefits.
To claim these benefits, you can either file online yourself through the IRS or come to a free United Way Suncoast Volunteer Income Tax Assistance year-round site. The IRS is keeping open their Free File site until Nov. 17th. If you would prefer to work with an IRS-certified tax preparer to file your taxes, and if you earned $74,000 or less in 2021, you can come to a United Way VITA site. The VITA sites continue to take appointments but call first as we cannot accept walk-ins. For more information, visit uwsvita.org.
