St. Pete Locals Acquire and Reimagine Pass-a-Grille’s “Sea Critters”

The New Brand, “Red, White, and Booze” Announces Plans for Dock Renovation, Menu Changes, and Introduces Local Entertainment

TAMPA BAY, FLA (October 13th, 2022) – Sea Critters has been a staple in the Pass-a-Grille community for more than twenty years, and if you ask some, it’s an icon. Known for its prime waterfront location and easy access for boaters, a seafood menu, and a lively bar scene, the establishment is a local favorite. When new owners Charles & Helen Collom decided to carry that legacy on, they had the locals and regulars in mind.

Why did you buy Sea Critters Cafe?

“I’ve always wanted to own a restaurant/bar and with this only being three blocks away from my home, I decided this was the time to do it. So we’re going for it and we’re going to make it a fantastic place for people to come and enjoy”, says Charles Collom, owner.

“If anybody knows Charles, they know that if they ever need to find him, this is where he’ll be. So this was a passion of Charles’s. He loves this place. The opportunity arose and I just wanted to support him. We’re going to give it a go”, says Helen Collom, owner.

From Sea Critters Cafe to Red White & Booze, how much of the original menu is the same and how much is different?

“We’re bringing back old favorites and adding more to it”, says Helen.

What other changes are coming to Sea Critters besides the name?

“More dock space, more seating outside, newer tables, the food’s getting better and better as we go.” says Charles.

What about the Sea Critters staff?

“So they’re all back and together, we want to make this place even better”, says Helen.

What is your favorite dish on the menu?

“Hush Puppies. I love them”, says Charles. “I like the fish and chips, I like the burgers, It’s hard to pick a favorite.”  Helen pipes in “for me, I’ve gotta say the biggest attraction is the fresh catch of the day. I’m a huge fish person and I tend to take a fancy to the scallops – they are great!”
