SARASOTA, FL – Child welfare agency Safe Children Coalition has recently hired Robin Jensen as a new vice president of child welfare; she joins April Ranceful – another recent VP hire – in performing duties associated with this critical position for the community-based care agency.
In this role, Jensen will be responsible for providing leadership, supervision and management to the community-based care (CBC) operations in Circuit 12 (Sarasota, Manatee and DeSoto counties). She will be specifically responsible for assuring the operations meet the established outcomes, comply with related federal, state, and local laws and rules, and all contractual requirements as well as integrating Safe Children Coalition’s vision, mission, and values internally and with state agency, contractual agencies, and partners.
Jensen has dedicated her entire career to child welfare. Prior to coming to Safe Children Coalition, since 2008, Jensen served in two roles for the Florida Department of Children and Families: Children’s Legal Services SunCoast Regional Director and Statewide Training Director. Previously, she served as a Senior Litigation Attorney for the Florida Office of the Attorney General, Dependency Division; Senior Litigation Attorney for Becker & Poliakoff, P.A. (Sarasota); and Senior Attorney/Managed Permanency Project for the Utah Office of the Attorney General, Child Protection Division.
“A deep understanding of legal and child welfare-specific issues is key to providing the best possible services and programs possible in our line of work,” said SCC president and CEO Brena Slater. “With Robin’s previous legal, management and training experience as well as her strong connections throughout the state’s child welfare system, we are confident she will be a tremendous asset as we work to serve the children and families of Circuit 12 and strengthen our community.”
Jensen earned her Juris Doctor degree from the Ventura College of Law. She has been honored by the Children’s Justice Center (2000) and Guardian ad litem program (2000) and was a recipient of the Statewide Excellence in Child Welfare Services Award in 2012. She is currently involved with the Juvenile Law Board Certification Grade Review Panel and the Critical Incident Rapid Review Team Advisory Committee.
Jensen began her tenure at Safe Children Coalition last month and is looking forward to the work ahead.
“I have always had the utmost respect for the work of Safe Children Coalition,” Jensen said. “I have partnered with them for many years in child welfare. I am very excited to step into this role to continue this great work to further the organization’s mission.”
