Sarasota County updates for Hurricane Ian

SARASOTA COUNTY – Sarasota County Government is calling for the evacuation of Level A in response to potential impacts from Hurricane Ian, which includes barrier islands, mobile homes and those living on vessels. 
County water services to the barrier islands will be shut off between 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27.
Additional Sarasota County updates include: 
Sarasota County schools will be closed Tuesday, Sept. 27. They will potentially remained closed through Thursday, Sept. 29. General population evacuation centers will open at noon Tuesday, Sept. 27.Regular county operations are closed Tuesday, Sept. 27, and Wednesday, Sept. 28.County transit will offer of fare-free services on Tuesday, Sept. 27.All solid waste collection services have been canceled for Wednesday, Sept. 28, and Thursday, Sept. 29. The central county landfill will also be closed those days. Sarasota County 311 will be open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27. Sandbag operations will be 8 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, Sept. 27, at the following locations: Ed Smith Stadium, 2700 12th Street, Sarasota.Twin Lakes Park, 6700 Clark Road, Sarasota.South County Fleet, 4571 SR 776/Englewood Road, Venice.
