How to Style a Graphic Tee for a Casual Work Day

September 23, 2022 by Post

Wow, I can’t believe we’re back in the office. It’s incredible to think that after years, our lives are finally getting back on track after that long pause. It’s funny, all the things you start to miss. The way the coffee machine in the breakroom fills the halls with the smell of a fresh brew. The constant whir of activity and excitement that comes with being in a fast-paced environment. All the little jokes you and your friends share at lunch. Gosh, there must be a million things I didn’t even know I missed. But honestly, something I definitely could’ve done without is the stress of getting ready each morning. For me, it’s picking out what to wear. You see I’m a pretty fashionable person, but I’m also someone who believes in a time and a place. What I mean by that is yes I do own a tux, but no. You probably won’t see me wearing it at the deli. And you see that’s my problem at work. I know I’m aiming for casual, but it’s my office and I can’t seem too casual. Conversely, I know I need to look like I mean business, but it’s not the 80s anymore and my power suit is out at the cleaners. I was left in a serious conundrum. So after about a month of trial and error, I feel like I’ve finally hit the sweet spot. That casual look lets people know you’re here to work! And let me tell you. It was a process. I AM going to tell you because I feel like I’ve gleaned some great insight into this topic and want to share it with you. So without further adieu, I present to you, this magnificent guide on how to casually style yourself for your work day!

Picking the Right Tee

First off let’s start with the hardest decision I had to make. What was going to be the shirt for my outfit? If you’re a guy like me, the shirt is kind of the most important part of your outfit. It’s the frontward facing part of your ensemble and therefore needs to be the most considered part. Personally, I went for a bunch of different looks. I tried the long sleeve dress shirt, and it just wasn’t me. I tried on a polo shirt, and I just felt the same. I had a brief phase where I liked the short sleeve button-down, but the second I saw the collar. I just thought. What am I wearing? Finally, that’s how I landed on the t-shirt. Simple, and elegant in design. Works with pretty much any pair of pants. I picked a real winner here. But what I quickly came to realize was that. I couldn’t just go with any tee, I had to pick the right one. When I went with just a simple plain t-shirt, it looked strange. I looked like an extra in a film shoot. That’s when I knew I needed to spice things up. That’s when I stumbled on these amazing graphic tees for men. Finally, I found something that had a lot of styles, and aesthetics. But it was elegant and restrained enough to wear at work. Now with one section of my new wardrobe taken care of. I felt confident to tackle the other half of this equation.

Selecting My Slacks

So now that we have our top, we can move on to the bottom. Most people, I think, may consider this a moot point. But I have to say. Half of someone’s style comes from the pants they wear. And considering half of the trends today, are coming from the style of people’s pants. It is an important point to consider. I’ve found that for me. I’ve been going in tight jeans and a t-shirt. It’s a pretty classic look, but I’m a pretty classic guy. I’ve also been seeing a lot of people pull off the dickies and a t-shirt look. As well as cargo pants. The world’s your oyster here really, but for my style. I found the jeans to be my perfect pair of pants.

When you’re trying to style yourself for work, you run into a thousand questions. Is this going to look ok? Is this too formal? Is this too casual? While I went on this journey, I had all those same questions running through my head. But after taking the time, and figuring out my own personal style. And what I feel comfortable wearing every day. I’ve found that I really came into my own. I look great, so I feel great. And since I feel great people pick up on that. Which helps me in my work, and my day-to-day life!
