David Newton Selected For Leadership Sarasota

SARASOTA, FL (September 19, 2022)—Gulfside Bank, Sarasota’s only locally owned community bank, announced today that David Newton was selected for the Adult Leadership Class of 2023.

Adult Leadership Sarasota is a ten-month program tailored for up-and-coming leaders who want to use their knowledge, skills, and relationships to advance and deepen their community impact. Participants will gain unique exposure to Sarasota County’s issues and key players while broadening their network with diverse leaders from the business, civic and nonprofit sectors.

“We are thrilled to have David as part of the Leadership Class of 2023,” shares Sara Rachon, Programs Manager for The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, “He was selected from this year’s outstanding pool of applicants based on his ability to achieve personal and career goals, as well as his commitment to the community.”

“I can’t wait!” adds Newton, “I’ve spent the last year getting established with Gulfside Bank, and now I’m looking forward to getting better acquainted with the community.”

David Newton brings more than 30 years of banking experience to Gulfside.  He started his career in Connecticut before moving to the state of Florida in 1999.  Newton has specialized in developing the government guaranteed lending departments for several banks over the last 12 years, most recently at Central Bank in Tampa.

Newton graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Connecticut in 1990 and has been involved In the Pasco Economic Development Council and with the National Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders (NAAGL) in various capacities.
