The Salvation Army Tampa prepares for the first-ever 5K, 10K and Family Fun Run this Saturday, September 24th, 2022 Tampa, FL (September 24th, 2022) – The Salvation Army of Hillsborough County will host its first ‘Run for Hope” this Saturday, September 24th in Tampa. The chip-timed 5K, 10K and Family Fun Run will take place on the beautiful Courtney Campbell Causeway, starting and
ending at the Whiskey Joe’s Parking Lot on the Tampa side of the Causeway.

Registration will open at 6:30 a.m. on event day, September 24th. The 10K Runners will begin at
8 a.m. and the 5K runners will follow at 8:10. The Family Fun Run will start around 8:15.
This is an event for all levels of runners – it is a beautiful course, with something for everyone!
“We hope families, friends and serious runners will come out and support our first Race event in Tampa,” said Major David Swyers, Tampa Area Commander. “We are calling it ‘Run for Hope’, because that is what The Salvation Army is all about: restoring hope, transforming lives. We need the entire Tampa community to support our efforts!”
The Salvation Army Ambassadors, Lauren and Tony Dungy, will be out in full force to support the effort. They will award each 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner in each age group a medal, and each 1st place winner will receive a signed copy of their new book, Uncommon Influence: Saying Yes to a Purposeful Life.
“We are so excited about this race and supporting The Salvation Army in their efforts,” said Lauren Dungy. “The support we give The Salvation Army is a family effort, and we look forward to an exciting event on Saturday – our kids are competitive, and they can’t wait to outdo each other on the route! We love that they are learning the positive message of helping others and giving back through our work with The Salvation Army.”
