Public hearing set for potential changes to transit fares

SARASOTA COUNTY – A public hearing for potential changes to transit fares is schedule for Tuesday, Oct. 11, which would impact services provided by Sarasota County transit including bus, paratransit, and OnDemand.  
According to Director of Transit Jane Grogg, the proposed changes would simplify fares for customers and bring Sarasota County’s fares into alignment with other counties in the region. 
“Our goal is to continually improve mobility for our customers, reduce traffic congestion, and continue studying the success and efficiency of our system,” she added.   
The public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 11, in the Robert L. Anderson Administration Center, 4000 S. Tamiami Trail. If approved, the new fares would go into effect Tuesday, Nov. 1.  
A public meeing is scheduled 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22 at Selby Public Library, 1331 First St. For a full list of potential fare changes and to participate in the public meeting via Zoom, visit the following the following link.
