The Florida Holocaust Museum Announces 2022 Trunks of Hope Matching Gift Challenge!

Ensuring free Holocaust Education tools are available to every student

September 07, 2022 [St. Petersburg, FL] — The Florida Holocaust Museum (The FHM)  has launched its 8th Annual Trunks of Hope campaign at TheFHM.org/Trunks, guaranteeing teachers and students have access to the free Holocaust Education tools and resources needed as they return to school.

The FHM has been providing Teaching Trunks for almost 30 years. These age-appropriate resources allow teachers to have suitable tools to teach the lessons of the Holocaust. These Trunks are shipped to schools around Florida and out of state at no cost to the schools that request them.

Thanks to the generosity of Amy and Michael Southard through their charitable foundation, Crofton Cares, donations made to this campaign will be matched dollar for dollar up to $25,000!

These Teaching Trunks are essential for school-age children to learn about the Holocaust and other forms of intolerance and prejudice. Unfortunately, Holocaust denial and distortion have been on the rise as well as antisemitic incidents, not only in the Tampa Bay area but around the country. Antisemitism and other forms of hatred are best dispelled through education. These Trunks offer the means necessary to equip our youth to recognize and reject any form of bias. Additionally, these Teaching Trunks encourage our young people to become Upstanders rather than Bystanders.
The Teaching Trunks are one of the primary ways we assist educators with free quality resources to fulfill the Florida Holocaust education mandate.

Other ways we support the teachers and students include:
• Holocaust Survivor testimony providing first-hand accounts, making history come alive
• Primary source-based curriculum guides paired with The FHM virtual tour, 3D images of select artifacts, audio clips and more
• Educational workshops and on-demand sessions available for teachers who need guidance on how to teach about the Holocaust

Holocaust education has never been more important. Please make your gift today knowing that it will be matched by Crofton Cares through September 30.
Please visit TheFHM.org/Trunks to make your secure online donation.

This is a moment in history when we need the lessons that Holocaust Survivors have shared with us – lessons of resilience and hope. Thank you for being a part of our #TrunksofHope campaign.

If you’d like to know more about the Teaching Trunks or if you are a teacher who would like to request one for your classroom, visit TheFHM.org/Teaching-Trunks.
Thank you Amy and Michael Southard through their charitable foundation, Crofton Cares.
