Are you planning to move? Here are some popular Madrid international schools for your kids

August 26, 2022 by Post

Choosing a school can be a major factor when moving to another country, especially if we are talking about Spain. Spain is one of the most sought-after and comfortable countries to live in. However, for expats moving with their family, the question of moving to the city has several reasons. For many people, Madrid is the perfect place, as it is considered one of the world’s best cities for expats to live in and a great place to work. The source https://spain-real.estate tells its readers about what international schools there are here.

Choosing an educational institution

The Madrid community has an excellent public education system, but many emigrants, for obvious reasons, would prefer their children to receive an education similar to their own.

Studying at an international school in Spain is an excellent language training, a high level of education, and highly qualified teachers. This is an opportunity to get such diplomas to be admitted to foreign universities as:

  • A–level,
  • Diploma Dual (Bachellerato + High School),
  • IB,
  • VAS, etc.

Moreover, many visitors can continue studying according to the program of their native country.

In Madrid, such schools are located in certain areas. The following are the most well-known ones. Moreover, almost all of these schools offer transfers for students, so parents and their children can choose in which area to study.

Colegio Internacional SEK

Forbes ranked first two branches of the school: Ciudalcampo (Madrid) and El Castillo (Madrid). Its high level of education and its long-standing reputation at the national and international level have made it possible for this educational centre to top the list of the best international schools in Spain. The IB (International Baccalaureate – International Baccalaureate) program has shown good progress to date. The school is accredited by NEASC (New England Association of Schools and Colleges), and is also a member of the international Round Square Association.

Students of the school can participate in the DofE (The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award) Youth Awards program, founded in the UK in 1956 by Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

Pozuelo de Alarcon

It is a municipality in the west of the Madrid Community, one of the richest in the country. A residential area with a low population density is full of park areas. This area offers many amenities including sports centers, swimming pools, upscale restaurants and bars, and several shopping malls. There are good transport links here: railway, ground tram lines, and metro.

The municipality also has several international schools that you can choose to teach your children. In the southern part of the municipality, you can find the British Council School, which accepts children aged 3 to 18. It is the first British school in Spain to work with the British Council to develop educational and cultural relations between the UK and Spain.

The Kensington School of Madrid is another school with a British program in the district, and it also educates children aged 3 to 18. Limitless Minds International College provides education for children over 12.

There are also several schools that provide the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum, a recognized standard that is considered equivalent to a high-quality British education.

Piovera

Piovera is located at the opposite side of Madrid, to the east of the center. It is an affluent area with a low population density and easy access to the A2 and M12 motorways. In addition, the area is surrounded by park areas and green spaces, so that people living here feel harmony with nature and peace. There is a lot of entertainment here: from fishing and golf to ice skating and all the amenities in several shopping centers.

There are several private and semi-private boarding schools with a good reputation and high-quality education, for example, the Hastings School, with three campuses for different age groups. The school provides students aged 2 to 18 with a British curriculum.

The Darlington School also offers a British curriculum for children aged 2 to 16. At this age, students will have to change schools to get a secondary education up to a bachelor’s degree (equivalent to A-Levels in the UK).
