SARASOTA, Fla., — Bijou Garden Café, an iconic downtown restaurant offering fine dining with an intimate and inviting ambiance in the heart of Sarasota’s theatre and arts district since 1986, will showcase the talent of several local entrepreneurs and executives at its August Bijou Broadway Brunch event.
The popular monthly Broadway Brunch continues this month with Joseph Holt and Friends on Sunday, August 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. featuring Dr. Joseph Holt at the piano. Holt will be joined by a trio of local performers who are known to the community, including Tony Boothby, Joey Panek and Bijou co-owner and executive chef Christopher Covelli.
“For this month’s brunch, we wanted to highlight the hidden talents of some of our friends and community members,” said Sharon Carole, co-owner of Bijou Garden Café. “These gentlemen are well known in their respective careers, but I’m excited for our patrons to discover that they are also very talented singers.”
Dr. Joseph Holt is known to the local arts community having served as artistic director for both Artist Series Concerts of Sarasota and Choral Artists of Sarasota. Tony Boothby is a realtor with Michael Saunders and Company, but he has been a performer in numerous musicals for the Players Centre and Venice Theatre for decades. Before Joey Panek started working in local media and television, he was a professional stage actor who performed in regional theaters and on national tours. Executive chef Christopher Covelli’s culinary career has brought him around the world, but few know that Covelli has sung at popular piano bars and lounges in New York, Provincetown, Key West and Europe.
Guests will be able to order from a special menu prepared by Covelli and his culinary team. The menu will feature freshly baked quiche, eggs Benedict, salads and lunch fare.
The restaurant is currently accepting reservations for Joseph Holt and Friends. To make a reservation, visit BijouGardenCafe.com or call 941-366-8111.
