Plantation on Crystal River Hosts Seventh Annual Plantation Redfish Classic

CRYSTAL RIVER, Fla. (Aug. 17, 2022) Plantation on Crystal River has partnered with presenting sponsors Freedom Boat Club of Tampa Bay, Horne Construction and Sodium Fishing Gear to host the seventh annual Plantation Redfish Classic on Saturday, October 22 at Plantation on Crystal River’s Adventure Center and Dive Shop. A portion of all proceeds from the tournament will go to benefit the STAR youth scholarship fund for the Coastal Conservation Association, ensuring the health and conservation of marine resources and anglers’ access to them.

“Plantation on Crystal River is proud to continue the area’s premier family-friendly tournament for the seventh year,” said Paul Cross, Plantation Adventure Center & Dive Shop manager. “We love bringing the family together with the Plantation Redfish Classic not only to fish, but to also get involved with the conservation and education efforts.”

              Tournament participants and their families can make it a weekend with 15% off best available room rates at Plantation on Crystal River. Hotel guests can take advantage of the lagoon-style pool, complimentary lawn games and can even dock their boat along 1,600 feet of seawall for easy launching the morning of the event

Events throughout the weekend include a Captain’s Welcome Reception on Friday, Oct. 21, with light hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar, on Saturday, Oct. 22, the Plantation Redfish Classic from safe daylight to 4 p.m., followed by the Awards Banquet that evening. While redfish is the primary goal, there will also be categories for trout and grouper.

              The event registration fee is $250 per team of two people and includes goodie bucket, entry to the Captain’s Welcome Reception, tournament fee, entry to the Awards Banquet, tournament t-shirts and free boat launch from the hotel. Additional registrants are $125 with a limit of four per team. There are separate youth and ladies’ categories. Prizes will include first, second and third place for largest redfish, trout and grouper, ranging from $100 to $2,000.
