Foundation work scheduled to start in August 2022
(ST. PETERSBURG – August 15, 2022) – The Residences at 400 Central has selected Suffolk Construction Company, Inc. as general contractor to build the 46-story mixed-use tower in the heart of downtown St. Petersburg, Fla. Suffolk is one of the country’s largest general contractors and has a large presence in Florida – and recently completed construction of the Tampa Edition Hotel and Residences.
The Residences at 400 Central, with 1.3 million square feet of interior space, will create a new neighborhood in downtown St. Petersburg. The project includes 301 condominiums, plus shops, Class A office space, restaurants and a rooftop observatory with views from Tampa Bay to the Gulf of Mexico.
Construction crews are preparing to drill test pilings for the 400 Central tower foundation to be immediately followed by the full-scale start of foundation work. The current phase of construction is required to accommodate the insertion of 88 steel-reinforced concrete foundation pilings – some of which will span six feet in diameter and reach depths of approximately 180 feet.
“The Florida economy remains vibrant, with a limited supply of luxury condominium product available in the very desirable City of St. Petersburg. This wonderful project is well situated to fill that demand,” said John Catsimatidis Sr., founder of Red Apple Real Estate and principal of the development company sponsoring The Residences at 400 Central. “We are thrilled that construction crews are already hard at work on the site and are ready to begin drilling our foundation.”
In addition to recent projects in Tampa, Suffolk is well known for building a wide variety of developments, including the recently completed Montage Big Sky Residences near Yellowstone National Park, the Hudson Exchange West towers in New York City, and the Miami Central complex with two residential towers and a rail station. They are well equipped to handle a project the magnitude of The Residences at 400 Central.
A state-of-the-art sales gallery across from the site at 465 Central Avenue was established by Red Apple and Michael Saunders & Company this past October and is continuing the ongoing process of facilitating the sales of luxury condominiums.
The Residences at 400 Central will soar 515 feet above downtown St. Petersburg’s vibrant Central Avenue, capturing panoramic views from Tampa Bay to the Gulf of Mexico. This world-class residential tower will be full-service and the first of its kind in St. Petersburg to include a dedicated lifestyle coordinator who will activate the amenities and engage the community.
The 301 condominium homes will consist of one-to-four-bedroom floorplans as well as a selection of custom penthouse homes. Residents of 400 Central will have access to more than 35,000 square feet of modern, private indoor and outdoor amenities.
