This prestigious award recognizes one firm in Florida that exemplifies outstanding craftsmanship. Five local architectural firms were also recognized at the ceremony.
(August 9, 2022) The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Florida/Caribbean Honor and Design Awards bestowed Florida’s greatest honors in building and architecture to local builder Nautilus Homes and five Sarasota architects at its awards gala on July 30 at The Breakers in Palm Beach. Each year, the AIA celebrates the best buildings and design – and the people behind them.
Nautilus Homes, a second-generation custom luxury home builder in Sarasota, received the Florida Builder of the Year award. This prestigious award recognizes one firm in Florida that exemplifies outstanding craftsmanship.
“It is an honor to be recognized and a testament to our determination to achieve excellence in craftsmanship and dedication to our clients’ needs,” says Ryan Perrone, president of Nautilus Homes. “Reaching such a goal at this point in my career is only possible with the collaboration of an outstanding team. I am grateful to them for their exemplary work and to my mentors, my wife and children, and my parents for their guidance. I look forward to what we can achieve and hope to be a beacon of success for our community.”
Perrone is known in the industry for creating stunning homes in a variety of styles that are as unique and extraordinary as their owners. Perrone is one of just two honorees to be awarded from the Sarasota area in the history of the award. John Pichette of Halflants + Pichette was awarded in 2017. This prestigious award has only been given to selected honorees five out of the past 10 years. If the jury feels there are no qualified applicants, they can choose not to bestow the award in any given year.
The AIA Florida Gulf Coast chapter was well-represented in the winners list for AIA’s Florida Design and Honor Award categories, including Halflants + Pichette Studio for Modern Architecture, Seibert Architects, P.A., SOLSTICE Planning and Architecture, Carl Abbott FAIA and [STRANG] Design. The AIA Florida/Caribbean Honor and Design Awards program encourages excellence in architecture, elevates the public awareness of good design, and recognizes those architects whose work enriches our communities and architecture.
