ST. PETERSBURG, FL — With the 55th season just weeks away, The Florida Orchestra is expanding its concert lineup into mid-September with Amadeus Live, the full Academy Award-winning film on the big screen while Mozart’s most famed works are performed live by TFO, the orchestra announced today. Winner of eight Academy Awards in 1984, including Best Picture, the sumptuous period epic is a triumphant celebration of the greatest genius the world has ever known: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The film concert will be one night only on Saturday, Sept. 17, at the Mahaffey Theater.
TFO also is adding Led Zeppelin and Beethoven x Coldplay rock concerts; a Halloween-themed Family Concert; a classical Christmas concert with Music Director Michael Francis; and a series of Soundwaves chamber music. Tickets to these concerts go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 15, along with single tickets to the entire 2022-2023 season, including the previously announced 55th Celebration benefit concert featuring Itzhak Perlman.
TFO will perform more than 100 concerts this season in venues throughout Tampa Bay, including a wide range of classical, popular and family-friendly music. Maestro Francis launches the season with TFO’s 55th Celebration benefit concert featuring Itzhak Perlman on Oct. 1 at the Mahaffey Theater. The following weekend, Oct. 7-9, the Hough Family Foundation Masterworks series debuts with Carl Orff’s epic Carmina Burana, kicking off the classical series that ranges from Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4 to Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 and much more. The Raymond James Pops series includes blockbusters such as Harry Potter vs Star Wars, Holiday Pops, and the Beatles’ iconic Abbey Road album.

Legendary violin superstar Itzhak Perlman joins the orchestra to launch our 55th season with his favorite movie music, including the Theme from Schindler’s List, As Time Goes By from Casablanca, the love theme from Cinema Paradiso and more. Michael Francis conducts. The benefit concert supports TFO’s music and education programs.

Haunted Halls Family Concert
Beware: The halls will be haunted by a full orchestra of spooktacular musicians at this Halloween concert for the whole family. Come in your favorite costume and bring your little goblins for tricks, treats and music so good it’s scary. Featuring Grieg’s In the Hall of the Mountain King, John Williams’ music from Jaws and Superman and much more. Chelsea Gallo conducts. Come early to try out instruments at the Instrument Petting Zoo.
