
SARASOTA, Fla. — Bijou Garden Café, an iconic downtown restaurant offering fine dining with an intimate and inviting ambiance in the heart of Sarasota’s theatre and arts district since 1986, is offering a summer prix fixe menu now through the end of August.
The summer promotion includes a selection of three courses for $45 per person. Tax and gratuity are not included. The course offerings are taken from Bijou Garden Café’s summer seasonal menu that debuted in June.
Guests can select one option from each of the three courses. For the first course, patrons can choose Caesar salad or Mediterranean salad. For the main course, the options include chicken scallopini with lemon caper butter, crispy caper leaves and warm potato salad, shrimp scampi over homemade casarecce, or boneless pork chop and peach chutney with sauteed fennel and onions. For the third course, guests can choose between flourless chocolate cake or crème brûlée.
“We wanted to offer a seasonal promotion to our patrons as our way of saying thank you for supporting us this past season,” said Christopher Covelli, executive chef and co-owner of Bijou Garden Café. “These aren’t smaller versions of our entrees. It was important to us to offer the same size portions our patrons would receive if they ordered from our regular summer menu.”
The full summer menu, still available during the special promotion, includes many seasonal entrees that are not offered as part of the prix fixe menu. Summer appetizers include dragonfruit Waldorf salad with green apple and red grapes over bibb lettuce, beet carpaccio with red and gold beets, valencia oranges, caramelized sesame brittle and sesame yuzu dressing, and burrata cheese with pistachio basil pesto and blistered cherry tomatoes. The summer main courses include espresso rubbed New York strip steak with pomme frites, grilled asparagus and chimichurri, duck confit over purple cabbage with carrot gastrique and apple slaw, lane snapper with citrus gremolata, fava beans, zucchini blossoms and summer squash medley, and colossal soft shell crab with lemon, capers, grilled asparagus and sweet pea puree.
