SARASOTA, FL – Child welfare agency Safe Children Coalition has recently hired April Ranceful as its new vice president of child welfare. In this role, Ranceful will be responsible for providing leadership, supervision and management to the community-based care (CBC) operations in Circuit 12 (Sarasota, Manatee and DeSoto counties). She will be specifically responsible for assuring the operations meet the established outcomes, comply with related federal, state, and local laws and rules, and all contractual requirements as well as integrating Safe Children Coalition’s vision, mission and values internally and with state agency, contractual agencies and partners.
Prior to coming to Safe Children Coalition, Ranceful served as the chief operating officer for First Step of Sarasota, overseeing general operations for the nonprofit. During her tenure, she successfully restructured the nursing department, eliminating the need for expensive agency services; led the team in opening a specialty residential program; created work groups to address organizational challenges and produce improved work flows; and redesigned the organization chart to improve the overall reporting structure.
Previously, she served as business development director for Universal Health Services and HCA Healthcare. Ranceful earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Georgia Southern University and her Master of Arts from Hawaii University of Phoenix.
“As a community-based care provider, Safe Children Coalition has complex relationships with numerous partners, from state and contractual agencies to service partners, subcontract providers and funders,” said SCC president and CEO Brena Slater. “With April’s previous experience and proven track record of success in operations, organizational growth, quality improvement, business development, contract negotiations and other crucial areas, we are confident she will be a tremendous asset as we work to serve the children and families of Circuit 12 and strengthen our community.”
Ranceful began her tenure at Safe Children Coalition on July 25 and is looking forward to the work ahead.
“I am so grateful and excited to start the next chapter in my career!” said Ranceful. “It feels amazing for the opportunity to get back into it: the work, the mission, the impact. I’m forever humbled by the work being done in our communities to support families and children.”
