Menu Will Feature Burritos, Esquites, Totopos Con Salsa & More
(August, 4, 2022) — Willa’s Provisions – the casual all-day café in North Hyde Park from the team behind Willa’s – is offering a special burrito pop-up menu on August 20-21 from 11am-3pm. The menu will feature recipes from Willa’s Executive Sous Chef Uriel Sanchez, who was born and raised in Morelos, Mexico. Chef Uriel’s curated menu will tell the story of his hometown through food and recipes passed down from family members, plus his own added flair and flavor. With over two decades of experience in the industry, he brings a wealth of knowledge to his role within Willa’s and a unique story to tell.
Guests can stop by and pick up grab-and-go burritos, including Uriel’s Burrito with black beans, cilantro lime rice, pico de gallo, jalapeno lime crema, shredded cabbage, flour tortilla & Chef Uriel’s family chorizo recipe, Ranchero Burrito with grilled corn, black beans, roasted mushrooms, cilantro lime rice & Uriel’s homemade salsa & flour tortilla, and Willa’s Breakfast Burrito with eggs, cheese, pork belly bacon, frites & a flour tortilla. Pair them with delicious sides including Chef Uriel’s family recipe for Totopos Con Salsa (chips & salsa) and Totopos Con Guacamole (chips & guacamole), plus Esquites – a popular Mexican grilled corn seasoned with cotija, chipotle aioli, chili powder, onion powder & garlic powder.
On the bebidas or beverage side, guests can enjoy Chef’s Prickly Hibiscus Fresca (16oz) with agave and pear. Indulgent Mexican dessert options round out the menu like Horchata Soft Serve – a traditional drink-turned-soft serve with sweet rice milk & cinnamon, Pineapple Sorbet with tajin & pineapple, and Crullers with cinnamon sugar & chocolate sauce.
The pop-up was inspired by Uriel’s family meal at Willa’s. “We all sit down together for a meal before every shift and everyone is excited when Uriel is cooking,” said co-owner Nate Siegel. “His meals always touch on influences of where he is from and everyone loves it.”
Chef Uriel loves being able to share his food for others to enjoy. “I am honored to get the chance to share these special recipes with Tampa and tell a story of culture and community through food,” says Sanchez. “Everything on the menu is influenced by the food I grew up making and eating everyday.”
