TAMPA, FL — Shumaker Attorney Sean P. Bevil has been certified in Criminal Trial Law by The Florida Bar’s Board of Legal Specialization and Education. With more than 100,000 lawyers eligible to practice law in Florida, Sean joins the group of just over 300 lawyers in Florida that are Board Certified in Criminal Trial law. Board Certification is the highest level of evaluation given by The Florida Bar for competency and experience, and it is the gold standard for Florida lawyers, representing recognition by a lawyer’s peers that they have attained an elite level of professional expertise in their chosen fields. Only seven percent of Florida Bar Members achieve board certification in a specialty area. Criminal Trial Law is one of 24 areas of law approved for certification by the Supreme Court of Florida.

“Clients benefit from Sean’s skill and courtroom experience, and as a lawyer Board Certified Criminal Trial Lawyer, Sean will be able to offer more specialized resources to our clients that only a select group of lawyers can provide,” said Jonathan Ellis, Partner and Community Associations Business Sector Chair.

“Sean has proven himself as a top-performing lawyer and we are proud of recognition as a Board Certified Lawyer,” said Michele Leo Hintson, Partner and Litigation and Disputes Regional Service Line Leader in Shumaker’s Tampa office.

As a former prosecutor with significant trial experience, Sean takes a very practical approach to litigation when it comes to efficiently managing a case and tenaciously arguing his client’s issues.

Prior to joining Shumaker, Sean worked for the State Attorney’s Office for the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit, where he was no stranger to the courtroom. As an Assistant State Attorney, Sean was responsible for prosecuting thousands of cases, including felony crimes involving murder, armed robbery, traffic homicide, schemes to defraud, and drug trafficking.
