The world premiere of the faith based movie, The Greatest Coach of All Time is set for Thursday at Tampa Theatre.
A local husband/wife team are anxiously awaiting this debut as sponsors and actors in the film.Ross Boblitt and Jacquiline Skelton own JR World Travel of Bayonet Point. These down undertransplants have been calling Tampa Bay home for years. Boblitt is from Australia and Skeltonis from New Zealand. Settling into Tampa Bay has been a joy and they love their community engagement. As members of Centre Centre Club in Tampa, Kingdom Business Alliance (Christen Business group) & Central Pinellas Chamber, they truly believe that it is the fostering of relationships that they cherish the most. This project is near and dear to their hearts.
They are thrilled that this movie and all the planning and filming is set to be showcased this week in Tampa. The film’s lead actor is actor Dean Cain ( God’s Not Dead, Lois & Clark plus The New Adventures of Superman), along with co-stars Ron Ellis and Super Bowl Champions Michael Clayton and Dexter Jackson.
This project was the brainchild of writer, director and co-star Darren Taylor. This singer/songwriter from Nashville also has several songs featured in the film. Taylor says he wrote the script based around the character Tommy Jackson, a hometown hero high school quarterback whose dreams of a football career were shattered due to injury. After college, Jackson returns to the same high school as a music teacher and is eventually asked to take over the team. When Jackson looks to his former football coach for guidance, he’s taught about the greatest coach of all time, Jesus Christ and his playbook, the bible.
The movie was filmed over 3 years all around Tampa Bay, St. Pete, Northside Christian School, Lutz, Weeki Wachee and Land O’ Lakes with the football scenes being filmed at Sunlake High School.
Interesting to note, the premier comes just weeks after the Supreme Court ruled in favor of aWashington State high school football coach, Joseph Kennedy, who said his school district violated his religious freedom by saying he couldn’t pray publicly after games. He felt it was a violation of his freedom of speech. The high court agreed.
Boblitt and Skelton are ecstatic to be a part of this heartfelt film about faith and a strong foundation. They hope everyone who sees this film enjoys it fully as they believe in what the power of positivity can do for everyone and believe moviegoers will have a renewed energy and conviction that anything is possible with hard work and belief.
