SARASOTA COUNTY – Early-bird registration is now open for Sarasota County’s 17th Annual Sustainable Communities Workshop on Nov. 01, a day-long, hybrid (in-person and online) event showcasing strategies for healthy, resilient, thriving communities |
Set for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the workshop will draw together residents of all ages, business owners and employees, non-profit leaders, and government officials to learn about environmental, economic, and social aspects of sustainability. Keynotes and panelists will discuss carbon sequestration, regenerative agriculture, climate change, social equity, local projects, ways to get involved, and more. “Climate change is not a distant problem that no one can solve. We already have many climate solutions that demonstrate the capacity for societies, ecosystems, and economies to thrive amid change and complexity,” said Alia Garrett, sustainability outreach coordinator with Sarasota County UF/IFAS Extension and Sustainability. “This year’s workshop will explore these opportunities and strengthen our community’s existing momentum on climate action.” Registrants are welcome to attend in-person at the New College Harry Sudakoff Conference Center, 5845 General Dougher Place, Sarasota, or participate virtually. In-person attendees will have the opportunity to visit exhibitor booths to network with businesses and community groups, to help build a better future for our community. If you are attending in-person, please ensure that you arrive with enough time to get breakfast and find a seat. In-person registration and continental breakfast begins at 8 a.m. |
Early-bird registration of $35 for in-person attendance is available through Sept. 26, and $45 after, at www.eventbrite.com/e/369876489537. Students pay just $25 for in-person attendance.
