Harrison TC Le (TC), a Tampa teen and an aspiring electronic music composer and producer, will be attending the 18th annual GRAMMY Camp in Los Angeles at the beginning of August.
The music industry camp is created for the top U.S. high school musicians and will be held in Los Angeles from August 2 through August 6 at the University of Southern California (USC).
TC is one of 81 students selected as participants at the annual GRAMMY Camp. He is an incoming high school senior at the Carrollwood Day School.
“GRAMMY Camp is where you can learn everything about the music business from those actually in the business,” said TC. “I’ll be working with some pretty experienced musicians, and I’m really hoping to learn as much as I possibly can about the music industry. I’m really excited!”
“GRAMMY Camp is one of the most immersive summer camps for high school students interested in a career in music,” said Neil Portnow, president and CEO of the Recording Academy and chair of the GRAMMY Museum board. “The program gives young people the opportunity to study with music industry professionals, including some GRAMMY winning creators, and to collaborate with their peers, resulting in a genuine learning experience about life in the music industry.”
Guest artists at this year’s camp include Lauren Spencer-Smith, Reyna Roberts, and the alternative band, Silversun Pickups.
“I’m exhilarated that I got in!” said TC. “It was a reassuring moment in my career. This will be one of my biggest learning opportunities in music so far.”
The program features eight music career tracks that includes audio engineering, electronic music production, music business, music journalism, songwriting, video production and motion graphics, vocal performance and instrumental performance. All tracks culminate in media projects, recordings and a fun performance at the end.
TC will participate in the electronic music production career track. “I’m really excited to meet the industry experts,” said the young electronic music producer. “I think it’s going to be a unique opportunity to learn from the best.”
When it comes to TC’s musical style, he describes himself as EDM house and dubstep. He enjoys adding bass elements into various electronic genres. His musical inspirations include Tokyo Machine, Au5 and Pixel Terror. Other inspirations include artists from Monstercat and Disciple, two labels of EDM backgrounds. TC admires these artists for their unique techniques of sound design, songwriting/musical talent, and how they make the music their own.
TC is heavily involved in school life at Carrollwood Day School where he plays the trumpet, piano and snare drum in the Drum Line, Spirit Band, and Orchestra. He is also president of his school’s Tri-M society, a music honor society. Furthermore, TC is also a member of the junior varsity/varsity soccer team. After graduating from highschool, he hopes to study electronic music production with some combination of engineering, physics or math in college!
TC a.k.a. Tsoysauce (his musical artist name) will be heading to the GRAMMY camp with material of his own already under his belt. “Planet Zero”, “Feel it”, “Inferno” and “My Climb” (a new collaboration with Rico – another Tampa teen musician) are his latest electronic music pieces that are currently released and can be streamed on all musical platforms. He has already received numerous awards and accolades for his creations. Of note, TC has received a Lennon award, a Grand prize in electronic music, numerous finalist awards, and honorary mentions from such prestigious competitions as the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, USA Songwriting Contest, National Association for Music Education (NAfME) and Florida Music Educators Association (FMEA), just to mention a few.
