
SARASOTA, Fla. – June 7, 2022 – Just in time for hurricane season, the Central West Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (CWC-FPRA) will present “Hurricanes, Floods and Fugitives: Effective Internal Communications During a Crisis.” The professional development program will feature FPRA’s state president, Devon Chestnut, APR, CPRC, and take place on June 16, 2022, from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm at Holiday Inn Express & Suites (5730 Gantt Road, Sarasota).
“A crisis could impact your organization at any time, and communication with internal stakeholders is critical to successful recovery efforts,” says Melanie Reda, APR, CPRC, president of the CWC-FPRA. “This program will help attendees prepare to handle a crisis situation and ensure the proper tools and plans are in place, regardless of the situation.”
Chestnut is an accomplished public relations professional with more than 10 years of industry expertise. Currently, she works at Cox Communications as the communications manager for the southeast region, which includes Florida, Georgia and Louisiana. At the event, Chestnut will discuss the importance of pre- and post-crisis communications, as well as communication during an actual crisis. Attendees will learn about developing a robust communication plan, activating various forms of communication channels and the importance of establishing a communication cadence based on the crisis level.
