Tampa, Fla. – In celebration of National Caribbean Heritage Month, the University Area CDC (Community Development Corporation) and the Caribbean-American National Development Organization (CANDO) will present the 10th Annual Tampa Bay Caribbean Heritage Festival on Saturday, June 4 from 2 to 8 p.m. at University Park, 14013 North 22nd Street in Tampa, 33613.
The month of June is recognized as National Caribbean Heritage Month, and is celebrated in major cities across the United States. The purpose of the event is to promote cultural activities, recognize and encourage the diverse cultures within the local Caribbean American community. This fun festival will be open air, with Artists, Live Bands, DJ’s, Arts & Crafts, and Ethnic Foods for the entire family.
“The Tampa Bay Caribbean Heritage Festival is one of the highlights of our celebration of diversity in the University Area and throughout greater Tampa Bay. We are looking forward to being a part of this rich and diverse festival and the numerous influences the Caribbean culture has on our community,” said University Area CDC Chief Development Officer Jaree Ervin.
Performers include: Trinidad’s own Shurwayne Winchester, TROPIGROOVE, Jah Movement, J’Nelle, Freddy Montes y su Son, Mort Elementary School Band Steelpan performance, D.J. Babe’-G & Matrix Ent Movement Page, Kynon Krazyk Bousquet representing St Lucia, YoungSpice Freedom Soundz, FREEDOM SOUNDZ INTL, Aramis y Sol Caribe and Francesca Richards and her carnival presentation.
Tickets are $15; children 12 and under enter for free. This event is a fundraiser for University Area CDC and CANDO, both 501(c) (3) organizations who provide much needed services to the community.
