DETAILS: In an effort to amplify BIPOC (Black Indigenous people of color) voices, The Straz holds a series of live, virtual town hall meetings, called Voices of the Community. Each gathering is held at 8 p.m. on the Straz Center’s Facebook page, as a Facebook Live event and on Zoom.
Each Voices of the Community town hall focuses on a different theme. The next gathering, BIPOC Voices in the Media, is a deep dive into the ever-changing media landscape. This Voices of the Community: BIPOC Voices in the Media is part one of a three-part series of discussions with journalists.
Included in this discussion will be: Saundra Weathers, Bay News 9; Xavier Harris, WFLA News Channel 8; Ray Roa, Creative Loafing; Gene Siudut, La Gaceta newspaper; Howard Word, WTMP-AM; Anthony Hill, WFTS-TV ABC Action News and Myriam Warren, Centro newspaper.
