St. Petersburg, Fla. (May 23, 2022) – Contractors started construction on a $5.6 million renovation to HCA Florida Pasadena Hospital’s operating room (OR) and surgical floor.
The hospital is excited to complete the renovation and modernization project to the surgical wing. The renovation comes on the heels of HCA Florida Pasadena’s year over year increases in patient volume including emergency room visits, emergency room admissions and robotic surgeries. From 2020 to 2021, HCA Florida Pasadena saw a near 70% increase in cardiac cath lab procedures. The renovations will include everything from flooring, paint, and lighting to recovery beds, equipment, and finishes.
“As our hospital continues to grow with our community, we are thrilled for the opportunity to improve our operating and recovery space at the center of HCA Florida Pasadena Hospital,” said Dr. Ron Rasmussen, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of HCA Florida Pasadena Hospital. “All the renovations improve the surgical and recovery experience for our patients and provides the greatest environment for care for both patients and caregivers.”
The renovation project is in its early stages. The operating room renovation is separated into three phases to allow for the continuation of surgeries during construction. Contractors expect to complete the project late summer 2022. Hospital administrators look forward to hosting an open house to unveil the new operating rooms and surgical recovery wing upon completion of the project.
