After decades of utilizing common industry standard ASD Aspirating Smoke Detector “Sampling Points”, Sterling Langley LLC has developed a portfolio of new and innovative air Sampling Points with new features, functions, and benefits. Each new peripheral device is compatible with all existing Aspirating Smoke Detection manufacturers’ head end equipment, globally, and is both forward and backward compatible.
For years all OEM or Original Equipment Manufacturers, were dependent upon the same peripheral device engineered design used for collecting air samples for analysis, searching to find particles of combustion in the atmosphere within a designated room or area. The only apparent difference in the sampling point devices used by every manufacturer, globally, was either the sampling point orifice diameter, the main distribution pipe diameter, or the mounting method of the device.
The problems Sterling Langley LLC identified is the sampling collection methods and device locations were all virtually the same, regardless of the OEM. These design flaws have not been recognized by the OEMs and subsequently stalled the ASD’s operating incentives for efficiency: The head end systems’ sensitivity parameters did not acknowledge the inefficiencies and influence of the existing sampling collection methods.
The only existing technique available to increase the original OEM system designed sensitivity was a costly upgrade to the existing head end equipment, when and if factory improvements and upgrades were available, by the original OEM. No new, innovative air sampling collection methods have recently been developed for commercialization, until now.
Sterling Langley LLC identified this deficit of the systems sensitivity as an opportunity to develop a new portfolio of universal, non-proprietary, “value-added” and “off the shelf” ASD Sampling Points.
The solution to the problem identified was developed: New sensitivity with new air sampling point capabilities could be achieved without changing the existing head end equipment. “In addition, we have developed new air sampling point devices that provide air sampling from new, previously unchartered locations and from previously unobtainable sources. The multiple new Sampling Point innovations were developed and are now available for licensing and OEM commercialization.” said Lloyd Aronoff, Founder of Sterling Langley LLC.
“I believe if you can address and demonstrate engineering support for the facility director’s original ASD installation, in any mission critical facility, you might be recognized as a preferred solutions vendor partner.” added Lloyd Aronoff.
Sterling Langley LLC believes the new peripheral devices offer enhanced opportunities for higher than expected air sampling sensitivity. This single attribute will offer new projects a unique competitive technical advantage and individual project margin improvements in every new mission critical ASD installation.
Sterling Langley LLC recognized the additional value-added benefits the new sampling points will provide to every mission critical facility utilizing ASD Aspirating Smoke Detection. The projects’ original ASD equipment installed has historically provided an excellent early warning system for detection of particles of combustion. Hence the original validation for the prior purchase of an ASD system instead of a conventional smoke detection system. The new higher efficiency devices provide a renewed valid sales reason for the original project’s installation provider or service provider to revisit all existing ASD end users and client facilities.
Increasing both the efficiency and sensitivity of an existing ASD system provides further validation of the Facility Directors original purchase of a state-of-the-art ASD system. “The practicality of utilizing the new peripheral ASD sampling point devices is the same rationale as replacing existing conventional filament based light bulbs with a high efficiency and a longer life LED light source.” added Lloyd Aronoff.
ABOUT STERLING LANGLEY LLC
After 35 years in the Life Safety Systems industry, Lloyd Aronoff established Sterling Langley LLC. As an “Open Innovation” Product Developer, the company is motivated to uncover hidden value in a manufacturer’s existing investment of electro/mechanical products and create new innovative peripheral devices.
All too often, a manufacturer’s R&D staff has been reduced or eliminated for corporate economic survival. Subsequently, brand new innovative product market share erosion may be recognized too late to economically adjust to competitive market demands.
“Designer-at-Risk™” is an exclusive industrial engineering business model designed by Lloyd Aronoff. Sterling Langley LLC is compensated only if the client agrees with the new creativity, ideas and intellectual property that include new features, new functions, and new benefits, for their clients’ own commercialization.
