Tailored Twig, a luxury floral design studio specializing in one-of-a-kind pieces and distinctive events, has been named a finalist in the Achievement in Catered Events (ACE) Gala Awards recently held in Anaheim, California. Sponsored by CaterSource, the premier education resource and network for the catering events industry, in conjunction with The Special Event, an industry conference for event professionals, the awards honor outstanding catered events and galas from around the world. Tailored Twig’s entry is for Overall Event Design with a budget spend of $500,000.
“It’s an absolute honor to have our work recognized by our fellow event professionals,” said Darin Bahl, owner and master tailor at Tailored Twig. “With the challenges we faced, it’s extremely rewarding to have our work selected alongside two other outstanding companies from California and as far away as China.”
For the submission, Bahl, submitted the Enchanted Forest-themed wedding and reception of Samantha Greenberg and Evan Weinberg. Bahl and his team used custom-built structures, sophisticated stylings and more than 11,000 floral stems to transform the Gulf side event space and ballroom at the Sandpearl Resort in Clearwater into a romantic, intimate, and simply unforgettable evening.
What made the opulent fairy-tale wedding event even more extraordinary was that the entire design plan was re-imagined less than six weeks before the nuptials after the original venue cancelled and the Sandpearl Resort was secured.
The sunset wedding and reception décor Bahl designed showcased a floral-heavy aesthetic which blended organic elements with modern opulence. For the traditional, outdoor ceremony, the Tailored Twig team laid a custom-cut carpet lined with a continuous path of greenery, 150 potted plants, and flowers to create an organic, winding path to the ceremony Chuppah. White birch logs harvested from Maine were used to construct the 8-foot tall four-post Chuppah, ornately adorned with hanging vines, styled floral arrangements and twinkling candles.
The Enchanted Forrest theme continued as guests walked into a romantic, ethereal ballroom for the couple’s reception. A mixture of feasting and round tables sat under an alternating ligature of sparkling crystal chandeliers with overflowing floral blooms interspersed with green vines and supported by six dozen white birch logs. Some tables were topped with green and white floral arrangements of varying heights which were illuminated with tealights, while other tables were topped with towering tree sculptures, overflowing with flowers and holding candlelit orbs.
“Samantha and Evan were a joy to work with,” Bahl added. “They faced some incredible challenges – their wedding was postponed three times because of the pandemic and they were forced to trim their guest list after a venue change meant holding the reception a smaller space. There were behind the scenes challenges for our team, as well. But we created the one-of-a-kind experience Samantha and Evan dreamed of as they started their new life together.”
