SARASOTA, Fla., May 10, 2022 – Second Heart Homes, Inc. has named Athyna Smith its first director of operations.

“Athyna has an impressive track record of serving those most in need in her community, including veterans and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness, troubled youth and neglected children,” said Megan Howell, founder and executive director for Second Heart Homes.
“Athyna’s nonprofit administrative leadership experience will help ensure we remain true to our mission while operating efficiently and with integrity as we continue to grow,” Howell said.
Prior to joining Second Heart Homes, Smith served as Director of Rapid Rehousing for the Jewish Family & Children’s Service of the Suncoast. She also recently served on the Continuum of Care Leadership Council for the Suncoast Partnership to End Homelessness. As a council member, she guided and coordinated the Sarasota-Manatee community’s policies, strategies and activities toward ending homelessness. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from the University of Southern Florida.
