WADA Offers Summer Art Camps Led by Local Artists

May 2, 2022 by Post

St. Petersburg, FL — Students ages seven to 11 will have the opportunity to explore their creative sides this summer, learning art techniques and history directly from local artists and educators who are eager to share their passion and knowledge for their craft.

WADA opened its doors to The Francis McSwain Pruitt and J. Crayton Pruitt Arts Education Center at the end of 2021. Within the new center, The Jim Aresty School for Young Artists provides an opportunity for students to bring out their unique personalities through multisensory and multidisciplinary artmaking. The teaching spaces include The Sylvia Rusche Studio and a state-of-the-art dance studio, in which arts classes are available to teens and adults, as well as children, throughout the year.

The Warehouse Arts District Association (WADA) is offering a wide variety of topics with themed camps including Comic Book Storytelling, Artists Who Changed the World, and the Art of the Performance. Young students can learn about visual and performing arts as well as the culture of art right here in St. Pete. Classes begin June 6 and run for eight weeks, ending July 29, 2022.

Camp registration is now open at https://www.warehouseartsdistrictstpete.org/summercamp and class themes change weekly, running Monday through Friday. Camp is offered in half days (9 a.m.-noon or 1 p.m.-4 p.m.) or full days. Extended hours are also available and special pricing for camp is available to all WADA members.

WADA has developed partnerships with Creative Pinellas and private donors in a commitment to access to summer art camps by offering scholarships to ensure all campers have an opportunity to experience the arts. For scholarship details and applications, visit: https://bit.ly/3vgbWUl.
