Quinn Charitable Foundation Awards Family Promise of South Sarasota County with $10,000 Grant for Emergency Funds

April 17, 2022 by Post

Venice, FL – April 15, 2022 – Family Promise of South Sarasota County (FPSSC) is excited to have received a very charitable $10,000 grant from Quinn Charitable Foundation. Quinn Charitable Foundation has been a strong supporter of FPSSC since its inception in 2015 with annual grants to assist with emergency funds for families. All grant funds will be used to provide for emergency funding as needed by client families, as needs are identified by FPSSC’s staff. Examples of emergency funding use include the following: childcare expenses; car repairs and tires; driver’s license reinstatement and auto insurance; counseling; emergency shelter; transportation (gas cards and bus passes); health care, dental, and optical services necessary for school and/or employment. There is no provision for direct cash payments to guest families. Funding these necessary expenses provides client families with items essential to their ability to achieve long-term financial and housing stability.

Jennifer Fagenbaum, Executive Director of Family Promise of South Sarasota County stated, “Unexpected expenses such as car repairs, rising gas prices or medical expenses can be debilitating for our families already struggling to make ends meet. Funding, such as this grant from Quinn Charitable Foundation, is vital as a large number of families in Sarasota County are spending more than 50% of their income on housing costs per month. Prior to the inflated costs, many families were struggling to save money monthly. Add in the rising housing costs, and families are barely able to cover the costs of their bills much less prepare for unexpected expenses.”
