TAMPA, FL (APRIL 14, 2022): The Healthy Start Coalition of Hillsborough County (HSC), a maternal and child health nonprofit, has selected Marisa Mowat as its next Executive Director. Mowat will assume her new role as Executive Director on April 16, 2022.
Over the past several months, the HSC Board of Directors, alongside current Executive Director, Jane Murphy, began succession planning to ensure a smooth and seamless transition. Murphy has been at the helm of the Coalition for the past 20 years, providing leadership that expanded the Coalition’s footprint in the community and oversight for the Coalition’s nine programs that serve pregnant women and families with young children in Hillsborough County.
“I believe that Marisa will continue to build upon the foundation of Jane’s passionate work and accomplishments on behalf of our mission to improve the health and wellbeing of pregnant women, children and families,” said Mark Gruetzmacher, HSC Board President.
Mowat has worked at HSC for nine years. The past four years, Mowat has served as the Director of Operations. Prior to her work with HSC, Mowat spent 12 years at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital working in children’s health and advocacy and three years as an Adjunct Instructor at USF’s College of Public Health.
Mowat received her undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, her Master’s in Public Health and is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Public Health in Advance Practice Leadership, all from the University of South Florida.
