Seasoned journalists will host two of WUSF’s most popular broadcast shows |
TAMPA, Fla. (April 13, 2022) – WUSF Public Media welcomes Craig Kopp and Matthew Peddie as new hosts for two of the radio station’s premiere broadcasts, “Morning Edition” and “Florida Matters” respectively. “ WUSF is fortunate to bring aboard two exceptionally talented hosts as Craig and Matthew,” said WUSF General Manager JoAnn Urofsky. “Morning Edition and Florida Matters are important shows at WUSF, and we are proud to have them in the hands of experienced hosts.” Craig Kopp will begin hosting “Morning Edition” this week. Produced by National Public Radio, “Morning Edition” airs 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. weekdays, and takes listeners around the country and the world. It includes a series of local news segments that are produced by WUSF, and Kopp will be the Tampa-based host. Kopp is returning to WUSF, having served previously in a number of roles at the station. A well-known figure in Tampa Bay broadcasting, Kopp has worked with a range of organizations, including Florida Politics, WMNF radio Tampa, WEKU Richmond, Aspen Public Radio, The Poynter Institute for Media Studies and the University of South Florida Zimmerman School of Advertising and Mass Communications. Matthew Peddie will host Florida Matters. Peddie takes the place of long-time WUSF host Bradley George who is relocating to North Carolina. Peddie comes to WUSF from the Orlando-area public radio station, WMFE, and brings substantial familiarity with current issues in Florida politics, the environment, health, education and more. Additionally, he has worked in news organizations including freelance reporting for National Public Radio, Radio New Zealand and more. Florida Matters is a public affairs program that tackles tough issues and provides deeper perspective on what it means to live in the Sunshine State. The show airs on WUSF 89.7 Tuesdays 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Classical WSMR 89.1 and 103.9 Mondays 10:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and is also distributed as a stand-alone podcast available on all major podcast platforms.
