Family Promise of South Sarasota County Awarded $20,000 from Family Promise National and Clayton Homes to Assist with Landlord Mitigation and Homeless Prevention

April 12, 2022 by Post

Venice, FL, April 11, 2022 — Family Promise, the nation’s leading nonprofit addressing family homelessness, has announced that 80 new grants totaling $875,000 will go towards supporting their Affiliate programs thanks to their partnership with Clayton, a national builder of off-site and site-built homes. The grants are part of the national initiative, A Future Begins Home (FBH) – a collaboration between Family Promise and Clayton focused on preventing family homelessness.

Affiliate grants will fund initiatives in Prevention, Shelter Diversion, housing strategies, landlord engagement programs, and Stabilization. The grants, distributed through cycles throughout the year, will keep families in their homes, divert families from emergency shelter into stable housing, create and strengthen bonds with landlords and property managers, and help stabilize families as they continue their independent lives.

Family Promise of South Sarasota County will use its Clayton FBH Landlord Grant to establish a mitigation reserve fund to help families who may otherwise struggle to pay background check fees, application fees and, security deposits for a new unit. Family Promise of South Sarasota County will use its Clayton FBH Prevention Grant to help families who may otherwise struggle to pay late fees, past due rent, and additional costs that may pose a hardship or threat of eviction. Affiliates continue to innovate new strategies to serve families in addition to providing emergency shelter and build programs with lasting impact on their communities.
