TAMPA, Fla. – (April 12, 2022) With labor shortages continuing to hurt the local economy, dozens of Tampa Bay businesses are coming together to recruit the next generation of workers. Right now, labor force participation is at the lowest level since the 1970s, as the pandemic boosted retirements by one million and another 2 million women are estimated to have stopped working.
Tomorrow, Shumaker is a proud sponsor of the Future Career Academy‘s (FCA) Future Fair, a unique approach to the typical job fair. FCA works year-round with thousands of local high school seniors to train and connect them with local employment options. The hiring event is the next step in setting students up for success, and the first chance for students to directly apply for local jobs at almost 60 local businesses. The fairs will also be open to adult job-seekers as part of Best Florida Jobs, which will help round out the hiring needs of businesses and serve both students’ families and the community’s hiring needs.
