Despite the version, these tips will undoubtedly help you boost the performance of Microsoft Outlook.

Having a functional and effective Microsoft Outlook is important for both home and workplace. When you compose an email, attach a file, or search for any particular email, if MS Outlook fails to respond properly, it will impact your productivity and increase your stress level. Maintaining the MS Outlook application and the host OS regularly will help you increase the general speed and performance of the MS Outlook. Here are some great tips to enhance the performance of your MS Outlook.

Download the Complete Email

If you’re planning only to download the header, the Microsoft Outlook application will always take try to sync the emails and messages from the server. This process is not only time-consuming but also accumulates tremendous amounts of cache storage. The cache and the loading time will slow down the speed of your MS Outlook and degrade the performance over time. However, if you make some changes in the settings to download the complete email messages, the data will be stored within the PST file and you can access the data faster. The name of the settings is dependent on the specific version of Outlook, but most of the time it will be named “Download the complete email with the attachment”.

Disable the RSS

The RSS feed will be synced by the MS Outlook from the internet explorers by default so that the application can keep the RSS feed up to date. If you don’t read the RSS feed, you need to disable this feature. This is one of the best ways to save space on the outlook server and data file. The RSS feed is one of the major reasons for outlook corruption. In such cases, you need to follow proper steps for outlook repair.

To disable the RDD feed, g to Files> Options> Advanced> and then uncheck all the boxes in the RSS Feeds columns. After that, restart the application once to apply the changes.

Scan the Outlook Data Files Regularly

ScanPST is an in-built feature of MS Outlook that maintains the overall performance and speed of the Outlook data files. This tool scans all the files containing emails and other types of Outlook data items to detect any suspicious attachments, incomplete files, and corrupted emails.

However, many users face problems while searching for the location of the ScanPST file. Additionally, many users refrain from using the ScanPST tool as it degrades the files which are detected as corrupted or harmful.

Fortunately, you can use the best PST repair tool to your advantage. However, don’t forget to take a backup of the PST data before you start running any tool or scanner. As per Read the docs, sometimes the ScanPST file doesn’t work.

Archive the Outlook Email

Most Outlook users fill their inboxes with thousands of emails. If you happen to be a PST fie user for your MS Outlook application, this will affect you severely. Instead of filling your inbox with thousands and thousands of emails, you need to set up an auto archive that will help you a lot. This auto-archive will automatically archive the spam and older emails and your PST file will retain only a small portion of your email.

Archiving will also develop another data file that will work as the PST file for your MS Outlook. Therefore, you don’t need to worry about your MS Outlook facing any consequences such as an OST file or PST file.

Disable the Add-Ins

When you install some new add-ins from the internet explorer to your MS Outlook application, the add-ins might degrade the speed and performance of your Microsoft Outlook. If you think that the add-ins are the primary cause of performance problems for your MS Outlook, you need to analyze them properly and remove them, from the options section.

Go to the Options and then select COM add-ins from the drop-down menu. From there, the application will display all the current and running add-ons in your Microsoft Outlook. After you’re done analyzing the add-ins, you should remove the harmful or suspicious ones.

Compact the PST File

Sometimes, even after deleting the older emails and other unnecessary attachments, the size of the PST file will not decrease.

In such case, you need to go to Account settings> Data Files> Settings> Advanced> PST File Settings> or Outlook Data File Settings> Compact Now.

This process will take time depending on the actual size of your PST file.
