Fourth Friday featuring Emily Turnage and Fantastical Tigers
WHEN: Friday, April 22 and Friday, May 27 at 6:30 p.m.
WHERE: Riverwalk Stage
DETAILS: In celebration of National Jazz Month, some of Tampa Bay’s best jazz musicians come together to form Spark Jive. Don’t miss them performing together for the first time on the Riverwalk Stage. Spark Jive consists of Matt Swenson (Acme Jazz Garage), Joel Freisinger (Marvin Hamlish, Hal Crook, Neil Sedaka) and Ted Yarusso – with a special inclusion of Matt Swenson’s son Miles on bass.
Emily Turnage and Fantastical Tigers bring a slow-burn musical showcase to kick off Memorial Day weekend. Emily Turnage is a ‘born and raised’ native of St. Petersburg who has enriched the local musical scene for more than ten years. Her original work draws from personal experience and an open appreciation for the intricacies of life. Her vocal range reflects a broad span of expression from clear, smoky and soothing to unapologetically visceral and cathartic.
Fantastical Tigers is a husband and wife musical duo from Tampa. They write, record and produce all of their own original music, which has a distinctly lo-fi sound, with hauntingly beautiful vocals, smooth guitar licks, lock-step bass lines, hip-hop rhythms and alternative pop appeal.
Fourth Friday performances on the Riverwalk Stage are free and open to the public. Guests can enjoy drink specials at the Straz Center’s Riverwalk bar, SIP.
