ST PETERSBURG, Fla. (April 5, 2022) – Due to forecasts of severe weather and high winds this Thursday, organizers of the “Longest Table” outdoor gala dinner on Thursday are postponing the event until the next week, Thursday, April 14. The Longest Table is the annual fundraising event for WUSF Public Media, which is the local broadcast partner for National Public Radio. The event features a dozen restaurants, each serving a table that stretches along the St. Petersburg downtown waterfront. “Unfortunately, the best forecasts we have call for storms the day of the event that would impact setup of the kitchens and tables,” said event planner Brian Wiggins. “With the safety of our guests and staff in mind, we will host the event in one week. We apologize for the inconvenience. The City of St. Petersburg has worked closely with us to find a new date, and so we look forward to seeing everyone exactly one week later on the evening of Thursday the 14th.” All menus and drinks will remain the same as well with the new date. For instance: 400 Beach with an appetizer of “Chilled Sweet Corn Veloute,” a first course of “Watermelon and Crab,” a second course of “Grilled Peaches,” and third course of “Gremolata Crusted Florida Grouper.” Ava’s Lowcountry Cuisine began with Hors d’oeuvres of “Lemon Cream Parmesan Tuiles Cones,” a salad of “Charleston She Crab Soup,” entre of “Duck Confit with Butternut and Sweet Potato Hash,” and dessert of “Bourbon Bread Pudding with Raisings Topped Cream Anglaise.” Guest tickets for Longest Table will automatically transfer to the new date of April 14, so guests can simply arrive next week with no action necessary.
