Tampa, Fla. – March 28, 2022 – Carlton Fields is pleased to announce that Tampa Shareholder Cristin Keane was elected as a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel at the organization’s Board of Regents meeting on March 13, 2022.
The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel Fellows are leading members of the trust and estate profession who have made a substantial contribution to the field. Fellows must be nominated for membership, and satisfy rigorous standards and screening. Keane is also a fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel and the American College of LLC and Partnership Attorneys.
Keane regularly advises not-for-profit corporations and high net worth individuals (especially business owners) with respect to tax matters. Her experience includes succession planning, federal income and estate tax matters, ISO and nonqualified stock option plan analysis and drafting, and Section 409A deferred compensation analysis. Her representation of not-for-profit organizations includes all facets of federal income taxation and state taxation, as well as contract matters and governance issues. Keane has extensive experience advising companies with respect to the tax aspects and structuring of business transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations and joint ventures. She is board certified in Tax Law by The Florida Bar, and she has served as chair of the Tax Section of the Florida Bar, as a visiting assistant professor at the University of Florida Graduate Tax Law Program (from which she holds an LL.M. in Taxation, an advanced tax law degree), and she was the 2019 recipient of the Gerald T. Hart Outstanding Tax Attorney of the Year Award, which is awarded by the Tax Section of The Florida Bar. She is regularly recognized by various publications for her expertise with respect to tax law (Chambers USA, Best Lawyers in America, etc.).
Keane earned her J.D. from the University of Florida College of Law and her B.A. from Duke University.
