TransCare Launches Advanced Life Support Inter-facility Services in Hillsborough County

March 14, 2022 by Post

Who: TransCare Medical Transportation Services (“TransCare”), a division of the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, is now providing Advanced Life Support ambulance services in Hillsborough County.

Why this is important: With the growing population of our community, the need for medical transportation services within Hillsborough County has significantly increased. The addition of this service from TransCare allows more coverage of inter-facility transfers and medical stand-by services within the Tampa area.

TAMPA, Fla., March 14, 2022 – TransCare Medical Transportation Services launched Advanced Life Support (“ALS”) services this month after receiving a Certification of Public Convenience and Necessity (“COPCN”) from the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners. TransCare will be serving as the third private ambulance service providing advanced life support inter-facility transports.

Providing ALS services allows TransCare to transport patients who require a higher level of care including advanced forms of cardiac monitoring, airway management and medication administration. The ALS service will help alleviate transfer delays experienced at community hospitals and free-standing emergency facilities. TransCare will continue to operate the same high quality, basic life support services that Hillsborough County citizens have received for more than twenty-five years.

“TransCare has always adapted by responding to emerging medical and behavioral health needs. We are very excited to now provide Advanced Life Support transports, alongside our existing Baker Act, Marchman Act, community paramedicine, and Basic Life Support services. We are committed to providing high quality, compassionate care to people in our community,” says Clara Reynolds, President & CEO of the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay.

TransCare was originally established in 1982 to provide Baker Act transports for Hillsborough County. In other counties, these transports are exclusively performed in the back of a police car. After several years of providing this service, a Basic Life Support COPCN was granted to TransCare in 1994 to help provide back-up services for the City of Tampa and Hillsborough County.

TransCare is currently hiring for various positions including paramedics, emergency medical technicians and behavioral health technicians. Career opportunities are listed on the “Careers” page of CrisisCenter.com (https://www.crisiscenter.com/about-us/careers/).
