DFAC Prepares for BIGGEST Show of the Year
Last year, DFAC’s #SMF exhibit had no opening reception or Awards Ceremony. While DFAC successfully made the works available digitally, there is nothing like being able to view this incredible collection of talent in-person!
With over 200 works representing over 200 artists, #SMF, DFAC Student / Member and Faculty Exhibitions represent the entire spectrum of creative experience offered at the Dunedin Fine Art Center. Works in painting, jewelry making, pastel, colored pencil, watermedia, photography, clay, printmaking, mixed media, stone carving, and more will be featured.
“This is always such a tremendous exhibit,” says Catherine Bergmann who as Curator at DFAC has a deep involvement with the show. “Square footage wise this is certainly the biggest show we have! To see the breadth of talent represented in this exhibition is truly inspiring,” she concludes.
Though this year there will be a somewhat scaled back version (Beverages are only available Outside and Masks will be required Indoors) of what is always one of DFAC’s LARGEST receptions, the exhibitions will open to no less anticipation on Friday, April 1st (No Foolin’). DFAC is excited to welcome their special guest judge for the exhibit, Caroline Mathers, Director of the Stirling Smith Art Gallery and Museum in Dunedin’s Sister City, Stirling, Scotland.
In addition to judging the exhibits, Ms. Mathers will be unveiling a painting from the Stirling Smith collection, that will be on loan in Dunedin, first at the Dunedin Fine Art Center, until October, 1 2022, when it will be transferred to Dunedin’s new – yet to be opened – City Hall.
Opening along with the annual #SMF exhibits is an exhibition by 24 Hands, a Tampa Bay Printmaking Collective. They will be exhibiting contemporary works employing a variety of printmaking methods.
ALL Exhibitions run through May 16, 2022. Admission is FREE
