
Marks The Continuation of a Year Long Celebration of The Rough Riders 125th Anniversary
TAMPA, Fla. (March 10, 2022) – Let the beads fly this Saturday! The 1st U.S. Cavalry Regiment Rough Riders, Inc. and The City of Tampa bring back the “Rough Riders St. Patrick’s Parade”, presented by MOR-TV and sponsored by the City of Tampa, this Saturday, March. 12, 2022, at 7 PM in Ybor City.
“I cannot express how excited and ready the Rough Riders are to be back on the streets of Ybor with the St. Pat’s night parade”, remarks Rough Rider member and Parade Director, Rick Ceglio. “After a two-year absence we are looking forward to the biggest celebration ever!”
This parade spectacular will feature more than one hundred and twenty units, including dozens of illuminated floats! MOR’s own Steve Wilkos will be this year’s Grand Marshal of the parade and will be tossing beads from MOR’s float. Mr. Wilkos is now celebrating his 15th year as creator and on-air host of one of daytime television’s most popular shows, “The Steve Wilkos Show”.
“Steve Wilkos is certainly a fan favorite with Tampa Bay viewers, always making it a point to take time out to visit Tampa Bay and take part in great community events, like the “Rough Riders St. Patrick’s Day Parade”, notes MOR-TV President and General Manager, Pam Barber.
A former U.S. Marine and City of Chicago law enforcement officer, Mr. Wilkos got his television start moonlighting, as security on “The Jerry Springer Show”. Jerry was in Tampa Bay recently participating in another Tampa Bay tradition, the “Krewe of Sant’ Yago Knight Parade”.

The 1st U.S. Volunteer Cavalry Regiment – Rough Riders, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation formed for the purpose of creating a perpetuating and living memorial to the unique accomplishments of President Theodore Roosevelt and the members of his famous volunteer cavalry regiment, known as the “Rough Riders”. The Rough Riders played an instrumental role in the Spanish-American War when they sailed with Lieutenant Colonel Roosevelt from Tampa to liberate Cuba from Spain. It is the intent of the organization to keep the Rough Riders great moments in history alive. We do this by providing activities that educate people about history and maintaining Spanish-American War Monuments and artifacts. We also take part in cemetery re-dedications for fallen soldiers. The Tampa Rough Riders also take pride in our never-ending work for local charities and children’s groups. One of our most noted charitable efforts is our famous Teddy Bear Runs. The Teddy Bear was named in honor of President Roosevelt The Rough Riders also provide time and financial assistance to many through college scholarships, academic achievement awards, home restorations, improvements in surroundings for those in our community who are physically challenged, and the restoration work on many Rough Riders-related monuments including those located in Key West and on Egmont Key.
