SPAA’s Funding Futures Awards Program Enters its Sixth Year in Helping Young Artists Grow!

March 1, 2022 by Post

Applications are now open to talented underserved students aged 10-17 in Pinellas County who aspire to be musicians, actors, dancers, writers, visual or digital artists.   These students are often faced with a financial need that prevents many of them from pursuing their artistic path forward.  SPAA’s Funding Futures Awards Program is dedicated to helping students nurture their creative interests and develop their expressive talent by providing funding to those eligible and connecting them to local after school arts programs or summer arts camps.

Last season, the Arts Alliance funded summer virtual and live art camps to thirteen students at organizations such as American Stage, the Morean Arts Center, St. Petersburg Ballet Conservatory and St. Pete Mad!

Funding Futures is designed to identify and encourage talented at-risk emerging artists in Pinellas County seeking St. Pete programs in the categories of dance, music, jazz, voice, theater, digital arts, photography, cinematic arts or visual arts.   The program is open to all talented artists regardless of race, ethnic, social background, sexual orientation, gender identity or ability/disability.

Funds may be used for:

·       Tuition for summer arts programs, both live and virtual

·       Musical instruments rental, purchase or repair

·       Equipment or supplies for a special artistic project

·       Individual instruction or master class tuition

Organizations may nominate students and parents may email for an application.  For program information, visit our website athttps://stpeteartsalliance.org/education/funding-futures.

Major funding sources from the Suncoast Credit Union Foundation and individual donors have helped build the Funding Futures Grant Program for the past five years.    If you are interested in supporting Funding Futures, your gift will help a young artist advance their interest in art and further develop their creative thinking, problem solving, communication and cooperation skills becoming a more well-rounded adult.  https://stpeteartsalliance.org/donate/

Our Mission: The St. Petersburg Arts Alliance is the umbrella organization serving this vital arts and cultural community.  We do so by driving arts-related economic development and funding, advocating for art and artists, educating at all levels and facilitating the growth of our City of the Arts.
