GTE Financial Continues to Raise the Bar in Financial Education by Providing Free Financial Literacy Classes for Teens and Adults

February 24, 2022 by Post

Level Up sets young adults up for success by teaching them how to use a checking account, monitor spending, and use a debit card properly, plus providing an added bonus with the new student account.

TAMPA, FL, February 2022: Throughout the year, GTE Financial provides free financial literacy programs for members and non-members of all ages within the Tampa Bay community. As a leading not-for-profit credit union in the region, GTE makes financial education one of its top priorities. One of GTE’s educational programs, Level Up, provides free financial workshops for students ages 12-16. Level Up sets young adults up for success by teaching them how to use a checking account, monitor spending, and use a debit card properly, plus providing an added bonus with the new student account. Parents and teens can participate in the next Level Up event on Saturday, February 26, at the Temple Terrace Community Financial Center.

“One of the most important things we do at GTE Financial provides free education. We have added new youth events that walk the parent and their child through the ins and outs of a debit card and a checking account, preparing them for responsible spending in the future” says Holly Markham, VP of Community Engagement & Strategic Growth.

“For people looking to learn about investments, estate planning, budgeting, credit, etc. – we have an incredible team of financial advocates that host classes and events that are 100% free to the public,” Holly continued.

In addition to Level Up, GTE Financial provides other free programs, including Virtual Financial Workshop Seminars and GTE Elevate. Members and non-members alike can attend GTE Financial education programs throughout the year to learn the skills and tools needed to manage their finances effectively. The credit union holds Virtual Financial Workshop Seminars a few times a month and features expert financial advisors that speak on everything from home loans, insurance, mortgages, and more. This month, participants can learn the ins and outs of estate planning.

Similarly, GTE Elevate is a robust, interactive learning program that provides tools to lead a healthier and financially sound future. This free program also includes “Money Mentors,” a financial expert who helps participants set and reach financial goals. Experts assist members with personal finance strategies, economic organization, debt management, and more.
