Brain Bowl Tradition Renewed at SCF

February 24, 2022 by Post

(Bradenton, Fla., Feb. 24, 2022) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) renewed its proud tradition of competing in Brain Bowl last fall. Danielle Clark, Joshua Brown and Jennifer Stone competed in three fall Brain Bowl tournaments. Justin McDonald, economics instructor at SCF Bradenton, and Suzanne Anderson, assistant professor of general business, serve as coaches and co-advisors for the team.

Brown, Clark and Stone were awarded scholarships for the Spring 2022 semester Brain Bowl team. In addition to competing, the team members participate in weekly practices. All three standout students also took part in service events such as the Trunk or Treat hosted each Halloween for children from the local community.

Brain Bowl is a quiz contest with intercollegiate competition organized regionally by the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA), and SCF has competed on a national level in past years, including winning the 2015 National Community College Tournament.

SCF’s Brain Bowl team is actively seeking new members. For more information, contact McDonald at 941-752-5281 or McDonaJ@SCF.edu.
