Board Accountability for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Presented by The Private Directors Association Tampa Bay Chapter

February 20, 2022 by Post

Tampa, FL (February 21, 2022) — The Tampa Bay Chapter of the Private Directors Association (PDA), a national association dedicated exclusively to serving private company boards and directors with the mission of improving value, growth, and sustainability through private company board excellence, is pleased to present a panel discussion on “Board Accountability for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion”.

The importance of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion has become an increasingly evocative topic in boardrooms. One central influence cited for improving the diversity of demographic characteristics such as gender, race, and ethnicity on corporate boards is that such diversity is necessary to ensure that boards are able to perform their obligations effectively in today’s competitive business landscape. A recent study published by Harvard University titled, Maximizing the Benefits of Board Diversity highlights the positive impact of adding new, cognitively diverse directors in a boardroom. Benefits include increasing the likelihood that a board will take steps to address a company’s challenges, improved professional practices, reduction of important concerns not being addressed, overall improved governance, and improved communication. These benefits extend beyond the boardroom to all levels of the organization.

This panel discussion will be moderated by Mary Key of Key Associates, Inc. and will focus on how boards hold themselves, their CEOs, and their organizations accountable for developing goals in this area and delivering on those objectives. The panel of experienced board directors includes; Dr. Alex Harris, co-founder of the Arts Conservatory for Teens, Kathryn Swintek, Managing Partner of Golden Seeds Fund, and James S. MacLeod, Non-Executive Chairman of CoastalSouth, Inc.

We welcome PDA Members and non-members to join us for this event on March 9, 2022. More information and registration information can be found at: https://bit.ly/3GSY0SH
