After scoring 170 points against a tough up and coming Dunedin Flight team, the Tampa Bay Fury have a tough game in Jacksonville. During an unusually timed middle of the week Wednesday, the Tampa Bay Fury short-handed due to injury and temporary suspensions headed to face the Jacksonville Giants and it got ugly. The team got off to a normal start, with role players fighting tough and showing flashes of what is to come with increased roles and playing time. This wasn’t enough to withstand fully throughout the game. Hot shooting streaks in spurts by the Jacksonville Giants became too much over the course of the game. The story of the game is turnovers, much of the Tampa Bay Fury’s challenges during the game were of their own doing, badly timed plays and off decisions with the new group adjusting to each other.
In just their second season the team has become the talk of the league with amazingly great expectations of themselves, from the league, fans and the #champabay metro they have exceeded early expectations. First season they became ABA State Champions and this season for all intents and purposes they are a Top 3 team in the State and have been consistently ranked in the Top 25 of All ABA Teams. With a few rough games, Covid-19 challenges, suspensions, and injuries, they stand with a winning record of 10-5. They are now on a tough schedule of road games, which started in Jacksonville, takes them next to St. Pete to face and experience, tough, scrappy, and lengthy St. Pete Tide team. When Co-Owner Andre Spivey was asked about recently challenges, he is quoted as saying:
“This is all a part of the game. We set our schedule to be tough and challenging in the regular season to prepare for playoffs. Whether it be covid-19, suspensions, injuries we expect to bounce back and win, that’s apart of the Champa Bay culture. This is a team where our model is #nextmanup although we have a few key players coming back into the fold. We’re excited about the next few games and extremely excited about heading into the playoffs again, we love the intensity that it brings.” Visit 813furynation.com we have new fan merch available, and for small businesses we are offering extended deals on sponsorship and marketing partnership plans with us to expand your brand.
