Public Invited to St. Pete’s “Sip & Spice” Weekend

MARCH 4,5,6  SAVORY SPICE SHOP CELEBRATES FIRST ANNIVERSARY WITH  MUSIC & CULINARY ACTIVITIES

St. Petersburg, FL – (Feb. 9, 2021) – The public is invited to join the new owners of the Savory Spice Shop and celebrate their first anniversary with a weekend of activities March 4, 5, 6 in downtown St. Petersburg. The store is located at 400 Beach Drive NE.  Owners Ivan and Peigi Jeanblanc invite guests to stop by for a variety of indoor/outdoor events including food tastings and tips on preparing Seven Onion Dip, Buffalo Chickpeas (for the Vegans), Gator Bites Chicken Wings, Peruvian Chile Lime Shrimp, and Peaches & Cherries in a Madagascar Vanilla Red Wine Reduction.

SAVORY SPICE SHOP “SIP AND SPICE” FOOD PAIRING MARCH 4,5,6 SCHEDULE:

•        Food Tastings: 12 pm -5 pm on Friday and Saturday. Sunday from 12-4 pm.

•        Laugh and Learn Cooking Tips:  throughout the entire weekend. 

•        Book Launch/Signing with owner/Executive Chef Ivan introducing “A YEAR OF BRUNCHES” cookbook

•        Music by award-winning Flamenco guitarist Jose Maria Saturday from 12 pm to 3 pm.

SAVORY SPICE SHOP CONCEPT:

As designated spice specialists, Savory Spice St. Pete offers guests a variety of blends as well as extracts, sauces & specialty foods. In addition. Executive Chef Ivan offers a variety of cooking classes monthly as well as in-store private gatherings.

When one thinks of wine pairing, food comes to mind. However, did you know there is magic behind pairing wines with herbs and spices? It starts with aroma compounds found in spices and wine. When you match like flavors together they magnify each other. This type of pairing is called congruent pairing and it’s the theory behind matching wine with spices and herbs. Learn about serving a variety of spices with unique tastes to make your food combinations even more interesting.  Spices could be Pink Peppercorns, Chipotle Chile Powder, Pearl Street Salmon Rub, Ancho Chile Powder and many more. Samples of the foods that could be brought together with the wines and spice include Mango and Pineapple Shrimp/Scallop Ceviche, Squash Tart, Chipotle Vegetable Soup, Glazed Salmon and a Raspberry and Vanilla Trifle.
