It’s Go Time Pokemon Go Beach Cleanup
Feb. 18, 4:30-6 p.m., Friday, Madeira Beach 14400 Gulf Blvd.
Join the Water Warrior Alliance and Giancarlo Baribault for a game of Pokemon Go, while cleaning up Madeira Beach. The event evolved out of Barbault’s deep desire to help animals and make a difference by improving the environment. BarIbault, age 10, decided a game of Pokemon Go could inspire more families to get out and enjoy the outdoors and at the same time, clean up the beach.
He said he has always been a fan of Pokemon, as have most of his friends, so he thought he could combine the popular game with an event to help the environment.
“I wanted to have fun while cleaning up the earth. I feel every living thing deserves it’s best home,” said Baribault. He suggested the idea to Jenna Byrne, President of the Water Warrior Alliance and the event was born.
Players will play Pokemon Go, on their phones while walking down the beach and cleaning up any trash and debris they come across. The interest is growing and they hope to have a large group of Pokemon enthusiasts, ready to clean Madeira Beach.
If interested, volunteers can sign up at WaterWarriorAlliance.org. Meet at the Madeira Beach Access at 4:30, on Feb. 18.
